About Budapest Trip

Budapest Trip is an independent travel planning site dedicated to Budapest and its surroundings. Our mission is straightforward: give every visitor accurate, unspun information so they can plan a trip that matches their real expectations — not a glossy brochure version.

What we cover

Our core focus is Budapest itself — the thermal baths, Danube cruises, ruin bars, castle district, Jewish Quarter and every neighbourhood in between. We also cover the day-trip circuit: the Danube Bend (Szentendre, Visegrád, Esztergom), Lake Balaton and Tihany, the wine country of Eger and Tokaj, the Puszta (Great Hungarian Plain), and cross-border day trips to Bratislava and Vienna.

Our approach

Every guide and itinerary on this site is built on thorough research. We cover destinations honestly, which means:

  • Verified practical details — real ticket prices in HUF and EUR, current opening hours, transport options that actually work.
  • Tourist-trap warnings — taxi scams at Keleti station, inflated Váci utca restaurants, "friendly girl" bar scams, resellers charging double for bath tickets. We name them.
  • Neutral recommendations — we do not run tours ourselves, accept payment for placements or inflate ratings. If something is overpriced or not worth the trip, we say so.
  • Budget reality — estimates by traveller profile (backpacker, couple, family, stag/hen group) in both HUF and EUR, because Hungary is outside the eurozone.

How we earn revenue

Budapest Trip is free to use. We earn commissions when you book tours and activities through our affiliate links with GetYourGuide. This costs you nothing extra — the price is identical whether you book via our link or go directly. Affiliate income funds the time needed to keep guides accurate and expand coverage.
