HUF currency converter

Hungary uses the Hungarian forint (HUF) — not the euro. Convert between HUF and EUR, USD, or GBP instantly.

Heads up: Hungary is not in the eurozone. Always pay in HUF at shops, restaurants, and thermal baths — choosing to pay in EUR via a card machine (dynamic currency conversion) costs you 3–5% extra. Use bank ATMs and avoid Euronet machines.

Currency tips for Budapest

Budapest is cash-friendly but card acceptance is widespread in hotels, restaurants, and most tourist sites. However, smaller market stalls, public toilets, and some traditional eateries are cash-only. Carry 5 000–10 000 HUF in small notes for these situations.

Withdraw HUF from OTP Bank, K&H Bank, or Raiffeisen ATMs for the best rates. Euronet ATMs (bright orange, found near tourist areas) charge steep fees — always opt for "no conversion" if prompted. Exchange offices at the airport and Váci utca offer poor rates; head to a bank or use your card instead.
